First, the Dominix wasn't killed. They nerfed one slot ECM and nosferatus. That affected AC Tempest and a whole lot of other ships. It was a good set of changes. The Dominix is far from being a useless ship, but its no longer FOTM.
Myrmidon nerf was pointless, but I guess Ishtar is back to being the defacto drone ship for those who don't want to fly BS.
Eos nerf was justified because all people did was use it as a combat ship. The new Eos is more suited for gang support. Its unfortunate that gang support in general is not very popular. But thats why you don't see a lot of Claymores either. People don't want to give bonuses if it means their ship is gimp.
As for the new changes.. The web nerf is going to make blasters pretty hard to use. On a Taranis you can't really hit any ship unless you orbit at 500m with mwd off. Less stopping power means ships start moving, and you can't sustain a proper orbit without using mwd. But the moment that you do, you either die or don't hit anything.
The Deimos is going to run into issues, but it mostly affects Thorax and Vigilant. They don't have a falloff bonus, so being up in someone's face is important. Deimos and Astarte are the least affected. They did make Kronos far better, but thats only because the Megathron and Hyperion were made worse.
What CCP needs to do to give blasters their role:
- overhaul T2 ammo so that Null is identical to Antimatter, only with 80% of its damage in thermal - NO PENALTIES - make the only penalty of Void lock speed, so that its effective in sieges or cracking a tank, but terrible in a fight - change the Hyperion to same slot layout as Megathron (8/4/7) - increase Hyperion powergrid substantially for use with Neutrons - change 5% hybrid damage to 10% blaster damage bonus - reduce Hyperion drone bandwidth to 50m3, boost drone bay size to 150m3 - change overloading bonus on blasters from ROF and Damage to just Damage - reduce blaster falloff 20%, cap use 20%, increase damage 10%
The above changes should make the Hyperion substantially different from the Megathron, without making it a better fleet ship. Blasters overall would be slightly more versatile and damaging. With the slight range reduction, and removal of Null's current range bonuses, along with the speed nerf and webifier nerf, blasters will be the short range weapon that it should be: its hard to get into range, but once you do it pays off.
